What is foil
Foil printing, also known as foil stamping and foil sleeking, is a versatile printing technique that uses heat to apply a metallic or pigmented foil to a surface which creates a decorative finish.
Foils are used to achieve a variety of specialized textures including matte, metallic, glossy and holographic finishes. It is also opaque and does not contain any ink which means foiling suitable on dark textures and papers as the colour does not change during the process. The only limits to foiling is the type of texture and stock you print on, foils prefer to stick to a smooth surface so that there is no tearing and uneven surface.
